I'm Going to the BIG SHOW!!! In my 2010 speech, i talked about solving the worlds problems with rock paper scissors. I did very well in my class. My teacher said it was very hard to chose. The top four grade 5's were ME, Emily, Aiden and Stirling. Emily and Aiden both didn't want to go to the gym so they pulled out. So Mrs. Jones had to put somebody else in, it was Jackie, so we had a vote. I WON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I only won by 2 votes!!!!!!!! So now I am off to the big show as my dad would say (the gym).
Today Noah & Dad went to JOYRIDE 150 Indoor Ride Park. With the Ontario Winter stealing those nice outdoor riding days, Joyride provides a chance to get back on your bike and spin some pedals. Picture.. a HUGE Costco (or bigger) sized warehouse that has been designed specifically for riders of all ages, abilities and disciplines to PLAY on their bikes. Noah and I started on the PUMP TRACK then progressed to the XC loop around the whole place. On the 5 minute XC loop, we rode from down low to up high, over rocks then ramps and through sweet corners and turns. After our laps for some fitness we visited the FOAM PIT where you can launch skywards only to land in the deepest foam pit you have ever seen. Toughest part...getting out from the depths of foam squares (can you say quicksand). Next.. the halfpipes, bowls and quarter pipe ramps - brings back my days as a freestyle geek riding one of those old school HARO FREESTYLERS (Brendan @ OCA would know what I am talkin' about). Then the JUMP LINES where you could hit a bunch of BMX style jumps, catching air and gettin' some flow. Finally it was over to the TRIALS area with rails, logs and obstacles. Overall...FANTASTIC Day at JOYRIDE - highly recommend it to everybody. Note my BC riders... Only in ONTARIO!
Night Snowboarding is well under way in Horseshoe Valley. Noah, Hannah & Dad were out most of the night tonight riding the Half Pipe and the Terrain Park. Not many people on the hills and from 9:00 - 10:00 its members only so we get tons of runs in! Wendy says she is going to come over and shoot some photo's next week so check back then for a few more winter updates.
As per New Years Eve plans, we heded off to McCormicks Wake Center in Tampa Bay with the intention of riding the cable wake park like the one we rode in Australia called Ski 'n Skurf. Upon seeing the brand new Air Nautique Wakeboat that we would love to buy available and ready for our little family...we quickly changed plans. We had a wicked opportunity to recieve some coaching from our driver and Pro rider 'Parker'. We rode some sets behind this beauty and got some sweet feedback on jumps, flips and spins. We deferred the cable for today and headed out onto the private lake which turned out even better. Sun was setting by the end of our session - amazing afternoon! Anybody heading to Florida and looking for a great afternoon - head to McCormicks for sure!
